The Historic West End is home to some of Charlotte's oldest African American and racially integrated neighborhoods. Homes in the community date back to the first half of the 20th century, and they often lend West End neighborhoods their distinctive character. With positive developments underway, the Historic West End community promises new and long-time residents a diverse and lively experience.

One mile from Uptown Charlotte, the Historic West End is conveniently located near the center city while brimming with its own energy and potential. The Charlotte B-Cycle station, located at Johnson C. Smith University, offers a convenient bike share option for active commuters. The Gold Rush trolley line runs directly to Uptown at no cost to riders, and the LYNX Gold Line streetcar recently opened in 2021.

Life in the West End is as varied as the art, food, and culture of its residents. Mosaic Village, a mixed-use space, ranges from a haircut at No Grease Barbershop to the best-unobstructed views of Uptown at Skyline Terrace. Five Points Plaza, a grassroots public space, is home to Charlotte's first breakfast food truck rally-Savory Saturdays and the Latibah Collard Green Museum's Underground Railroad Exhibit.
